TAC 1/5/2004 00:18 Hello, do you speak english?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:19 Yes.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:19 Hi, my name is Amy, I was just looking for someone new to talk to.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:20 Well, you found one, so. I’ve just loged in, heading to Orkut… :^)
TAC 1/5/2004 00:20 May I ask what is orkut?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:22 It’s an online “friends network system”. Looks like the old BBSs, in some way. Thematic forums and the like.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:27 Well, Amy, my name’s Rico, and, as probably you saw in my profile, I’m from Brazil.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:27 And Isidore Ducasse is an old and odd french poet from the 19th century.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:28 I thought that is what I read. But I was not for sure. It is nice to meet you Rico. I do not want to bother you if you are busy. I was just wanting to meet someone new.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:29 Well, you’re not bothering at all, I like to know new people as well.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:30 Well very good. I am glad. Do you mind me asking what you do in brazil?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:31 I’ve just watch a movie of my prefered film director.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:31 Ops, it’s not the answer to your question.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:32 Thats Ok. What was the name of the movie?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:32 Well, I’m a writer, but actually I work with computers by now.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:32 Burnt by the sun, by Nikita Mikhalkov.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:33 Ok. I have never heard of that. What time is it there?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:37 It’s 12:40 AM.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:38 Ok, thank you. you are really talkative
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:38 Well, it won an Oscar in 1995. Foreigner Oscar, of course.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:38 Ok. do you like any american movies?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:39 Old ones. I really don’t like Hollywood nowadays.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:40 Me neither. They are pretty crazy there.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:40 Hehehe.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:40 Where are you from in USA?
TAC 1/5/2004 00:41 You are a man of few words.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:41 I live in mississippi.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:41 Well, the problem is that I don’t write often in english.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:42 Ok. well you do a very good job. you write better than me and this is my only language.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:42 Thanks, that was nice :^)
TAC 1/5/2004 00:43 Have you heard of mississippi?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:43 Ol’ Mississipi, where Huck and Tom Sayer sail…
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:44 Sawyer?
TAC 1/5/2004 00:44 Ha ha. Yes that is the river, I live in the state. It is in the southern part of US.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:45 I like Mark Twain, though americans do not anymore, it seems.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:45 I’m sorry I did not get your last message.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:46 It was “I like Mark Twain, though americans do not anymore, it seems.”
TAC 1/5/2004 00:46 What makes you say that?
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:47 A documentary I saw last year of someone sueing a school because in Huckleberry people say “negro”. Do you know “negro” is a portuguese word?
TAC 1/5/2004 00:48 I did not know that. Everything is so politically correct. But not in the south. We are not that uptight.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:49 And that, at least in some public schools, they will ban Twain’s reading.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:49 I think the case was in Mississipi or another southern state (Georgia?)
TAC 1/5/2004 00:51 I would not doubt it. Now a days you cant do anything without affending someone and then they will sue. I havent heard about it. where I live we are not like that. we do not care about all that political correctness here. we are easy going and just try to be nice to every one
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:52 Well, as say french people: La Bêtise n’as pas de frontières (Stupidity does not have borders). :^)
Nice to listen it from an person at USA.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:52 have you heard that now in school they do not want it called a easter egg hunt. at easter time. it is called a ovall egg hunt
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:52 HAHAHAHA
TAC 1/5/2004 00:53 people are just crazy.. but do not judge us all by the few idiots you hear or see on tv
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:56 Well, I really don’t judge for people on TV. But there are not many reasonable people on the internet either, american or not.
TAC 1/5/2004 00:57 I have found that on the internet there is not many people who like americans. Also I have learned that some men will say just about anything to a female.
Láudano 1/5/2004 00:59 Ah, that’s true. Well, when Clinton was on White House people liked americans better. But politics is a harsh subject to talk, sorry.
TAC 1/5/2004 01:01 I did not like clinton but I do like president bush. Yes I try to stay away from politics on here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Sometimes it is best to keep it to yourselves
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:01 Why do you like Bush?
TAC 1/5/2004 01:04 Because he stands behind what he believes. Even if sometimes I do not agree I still respect the fact that when he says something he means it. He also just says what he feels. He does not try to sugar coat it. I also agree with his policies. Every human being on this earth has a right to live in freedom. And if you are a powerful country (as we are) you are suppose to protect those people that are unable to protect themselves.
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:06 Well, I fear you’re not getting the whole story about what is happening and what happened in Iraq.
TAC 1/5/2004 01:06 It is the same in life if you are a strong man and you walk by a woman that is being attacked, raped , beaten up. you should help her. not just pass her by saying well that is none of my business
TAC 1/5/2004 01:07 Well I disagree with you. Nobody on this earth can say saddam was a good man. The iraqis have every right to freedon as everyone else.
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:10 I’m not telling you this. Saddam was a bloody dictactor, dot. But bombing civilians is not the clever way to make people free. And it’s not (and I don’t know why) getting USA press. If you search in, for example, british press, the news are more “grey coloured” that what you see in Fox.
TAC 1/5/2004 01:13 We go above and beyond when we go to war. We do everything possible to limit civilian casulties. And seeing that the germans and french were taking money from saddam. Of course they would not agree with what we did. But you know asking him nicely to leave his country would not work. So that left our only option to be war.
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:14 The movie I was watching was a kind of “libello” for freedom. It was about a soviet general, hero of their revolution, that was trapped by one of the Stalin’s pogroms. Beauty movie.
TAC 1/5/2004 01:14 Sounds interesting.
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:15 It was an United Nations issue. And when you say “germans” and “french” you’re behaving the same way you regret when people say “americans”. :^)
TAC 1/5/2004 01:17 I was talking about the french and german governments. I do treat people the same way I want to be treated. I do not pre judge anyone. So no I am not behaving the same. I have worked my whole life on being a good kind hearted woman. And thats who I am.
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:19 People in Europe is almost a 90% against any kind of war, even the “justificated” ones (as against Saddam, China, former brazilian dictactorship or any dictatorship). This is a thing to blame on “them”, Europeans. But UN exists to mediate this kind of conflicts. And, USA, as a powerful country, should endorse it.
TAC 1/5/2004 01:22 Yes but the un had how many years to deal with him. they did nothing except let him take billions of dollars from the oil for food program. Also in africa we left it up to the un and what happened hundreds of people were murdered while the un did nothing. When we help we are accused of policing the world when we do nothing we are said to not care about anyone but ourselves. We can never win. France did not mind the war that gave them back their freedom
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:24 France heavily helped US to be an independent country too. Beaumarchais (a french writer and the fournisher of most of weapons to americans at that time) should be reminded too. :^)
Láudano 1/5/2004 01:29 well, the USA was an important (probably the most) part of the UN. It’s not to blame one or other country if UN fails. It’s the whole world failing, when UN fails. But UN did an amazing good work in several other countries, too. They helped Angola, Mozambique and Timor East to be free, stop their civil wars, unmine the countries, help the wounded people, etc.
